Students in the theatre department revel in the fun of the stage — the acting, costumes, sets, and, of course, the audience — but they are quick to point out that there is much more to the field than spotlights and props.

Grounded in the liberal arts tradition, students interpret dramatic texts on many levels through acting, directing and design, dramatic literature and theatre history courses. Students have numerous chances to practice their crafts in a fully equipped theatre, a dance studio and experimental performance space.

Esteemed faculty, who possess stellar scholarly credentials and professional experience on stage and behind the scenes, offer different areas of expertise, including Shakespeare, film, comedy, Asian, and experimental theater.
