Holy Cross Chapel Choir to Perform at the Vatican

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross Chapel Choir will join the Sistine Chapel Choir at the Chair Altar of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome for the beatification Mass on Sunday, March 7.  This is the first time the Chapel Choir has performed at the Vatican.

While in Italy, the Choir will also perform at St. Ignatius Church in Rome and at the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi.

On Wednesday, March 10 the Choir will have an audience with Pope John Paul II, at which they will perform a selection during the English language portion.

Members of the Chaplain's Office, friends, family, and Holy Cross alumni will join the 42 student members of the Chapel Choir.

"The Chapel Choir has worked very hard to prepare for this trip - rehearsing, making a CD, raising money, and giving concerts," says Andrea Goodrich, director of the Chapel Choir.  "It is an honor to sing for the Pope at the beatification Mass in St. Peter's.  The Choir is very excited, and is looking forward to representing the Holy Cross community in Rome, the Vatican, and Assisi."
