Inauguration of 31st President of Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., will be inaugurated the 31st president of the College of the Holy Cross at an installation ceremony at the College on Friday, Sept. 15, at 3:30 p.m. in the Hart Recreation Center. A reception will follow on the lawn of the Hart Center.

The installation ceremony will be attended by delegates representing approximately 100 colleges and universities from across the nation. City Manager Thomas Hoover will speak on behalf of the city of Worcester and Rev. John W. O'Malley, S.J., professor of church history at the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, Mass., will deliver a talk at the ceremony. That will be followed by the presidential inaugural address given by Fr. McFarland.

The schedule of inauguration activities also includes:

A Liturgical Celebration on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. in the Saint Joseph Memorial Chapel.

A Panel Presentation about the Holy Cross Mission on Friday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. in the Hogan Campus Center.

A "Fun Run/Walk" with Fr. McFarland on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. It begins at the Hart Recreation Center.

All events are free and open to the public.
