Heroine of "The Nasty Girl" to Lecture at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Anna Rosmus, real-life heroine of the film, "The Nasty Girl," will give a lecture entitled, "The Courage to Tell the Truth- A Woman Confronts the German Past," on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. in the Browsing Room of Dinand Library. The lecture is free and open to the public.

As a teenager, Rosmus uncovered a hidden Nazi past in her hometown of Passau, Germany. For 17 years she dedicated her life to uncovering anti-Semitism and to combating the neo-Nazis and extreme right in Germany. Rosmus located and published the stories and the artwork of Jewish inhabitants of Passau who had been exiled. Her struggle led to threats against her life.

Rosmus is the recipient of many humanitarian awards, including the American Society of Journalists and Authors' Conscience in Media Award; the Holocaust Survivors and Friends' Holocaust Memorial Award; and the Galinski Prize, the highest honor awarded by the German Jewish Community.

Rosmus is the author of numerous books, including Wintergreen: Suppressed Murders; Pocking: End and Renewal and Exodus: In the Shadow of Mercy. She was profiled on the television program 60 Minutes.

This event is sponsored by the Office of the Dean, the German Studies Program and the First-Year Program.
