Author David Lamb to Lecture During Black History Month at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Author David Lamb will deliver a lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. in Room 519 of the Hogan Campus Center. Lamb's lecture, entitled "Praying to the East: Malcolm X, Islam, Hip-Hop," is free and open to the public.

His lecture will be based on his writings, in which he uses the backdrop of Hip-Hop to talk about larger issues and social trends, with particular emphasis on African Americans and Latinos.

Lamb is the critically acclaimed author of "Do Platanos Go Wit' Collard Greens?" and "The Trumpet Is Blown." In addition, he is an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, where he designed and teaches the African-American sociology course,"Society & Hip-Hop Culture."

Lamb's visit is sponsored by the Black Student Union (BSU) and the Muslim Endeavor to Create Cultural Awareness (MECCA).
