Get Involved - Come to the SPUD Orientation!

U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern (D-MA) will deliver the keynote address at Holy Cross' orientation for student volunteers on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 1:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Hogan Campus Center. The orientation program is for any Holy Cross student interested in participating in the College's umbrella service organization, Student Programs for Urban Development (SPUD).

The day is comprised of five parts: Student Registration in the Hogan Ballroom from 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.; refreshments will be served.

Keynote Speech, "Community Includes the Most Vulnerable," by U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern in the Hogan Ballroom from 1:30 p.m.- 2 p.m.

Training Workshops for SPUD's individual service programs, featuring Worcester community leaders from organizations such as Friendly House, The Worcester Youth and Teen Center and The Seven Hills Foundation, in the Hogan Campus Center from 2 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Organizational Meetings for SPUD's individual service programs, such as AIDS Project Worcester, Vietnamese Tutoring and Jeremiah's Inn, in the Hogan Campus Center from 2:30 p.m.- 3:15 p.m.

Van Certification Class for anyone wishing to drive the SPUD vans, specifically those students going on Habitat for Humanity or Appalachia this spring break, in Hogan 328 at 3:30 p.m. Attendance at this orientation program is required for all SPUD participants.

Composed of 17 programs, Student Programs for Urban Development (SPUD) is the largest organization on campus, involving approximately 400 Holy Cross students in one or more of its service programs.
