Diversity Effort Launched at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – "Diversity 101: Challenge and Support,"a program designed to explore the topic of diversity at Holy Cross, will hold bi-monthly sessions at 12 p.m. in Room 402 of the Hogan Campus Center. The program is sponsored by the offices of Multicultural Education, Residence Life and the Counseling Center. The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, Jan. 30 - "Where Do Privilege and Class Collide?" Discussion featuring Professor Pat Bizzell of the English department, Rhonda Brown, affirmative action officer, and Robert Principe, director of special projects and training, Student Affairs.

Tuesday, Feb. 13 - "White, Male, Catholic and a Feminist Educator" Lecture by David Lizotte, director of Holy Cross' Teacher Certification Program.

Wednesday, Feb. 28 - "Diversity at Holy Cross: Student Perspectives" The following student Multicultural Peer Educators will speak on their experiences with diversity at Holy Cross: Kristin Misner '01, Ray Canada '01, Heather Maginnis '01, Sarah Dalton '02 and Steve Green '02.

Tuesday, March 13 - "Sexual Orientation and the Campus Experience" Students will discuss their experiences with sexual orientation diversity and how it affects their life at Holy Cross.

Thursday, March 29 - "Does Religious Diversity Enrich the Holy Cross Community?" Professor Jim Miracky, S.J., of the English department and Professor Ed Isser of the theatre department will lead a discussion on religious diversity and its effects at Holy Cross.
