Deaf Culture Events at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – There will be a number of Deaf culture events during the months of February and March at Holy Cross. All events are free and open to the public.

The schedule is as follows:

Sunday, Feb. 18, at 2:30 p.m. - Celebration of the Catholic Mass in American Sign Language (ASL) will be held in the Mary Chapel. The presider will be Rev. Joseph Bruce, S.J., '73, and there will be a social immediately following in the Hogan Campus Center.

Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. - A live teleconference on "Leveling the Academic 'Playing Field' for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students" will be held in Room 102 of Stein Hall. Discussion topics will include writing assignments, reading subject content, and classroom environment.

Thursday, March 15, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. - A live teleconference on "Services for the Hard of Hearing Student in Postsecondary Education" will be held in Room 102 of Stein Hall. Discussion topics will include degrees and causes of hearing loss, common myths and misconceptions about people with hearing loss, and psychological ramifications.
