Holy Cross NROTC Unit to Host Annual President's Review Ceremony

WORCESTER, Mass. – The President's Review Ceremony of the Holy Cross Naval ROTC Unit will take place on Friday, April 6, at 4 p.m. at the Hart Recreation Center. This annual event is a formal recognition of the presidents of the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Worcester State College for their support of the NROTC Unit.

The ceremony is also a recognition of many outstanding midshipmen from the three schools who have earned distinction in academics, leadership and extracurricular activities. Local civic, business and veterans' organizations provide a variety of awards to recognize the accomplishments of these students. The ceremony reflects the cohesion and cooperative spirit that the colleges, the NROTC Unit and the Worcester community enjoy.

At this year's ceremony, VADM Cebrowski, the president of the Naval War College, will present to Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., the president of Holy Cross, a montage of the flag pole dedication in front of McCarty-Little Hall at the Newport Naval Base, Newport, R.I. The flag poles were funded by three former NROTC Holy Cross graduates in honor of the over 4,000 Holy Cross graduates who have served our country since World War II. The Navy Band from Newport, R.I. will be providing music at the ceremony.

The Holy Cross NROTC unit was established in 1941; it is believed that Holy Cross is the only national liberal arts college to continue to host a Navy unit.
