Director of Public Safety at Holy Cross Receives International Campus Safety Award

WORCESTER, Mass. – Jeffrey T. Wilcox, director of Public Safety at the College of the Holy Cross, is the recipient of the 2001 President's Award, given by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).

This annual award is bestowed upon one recipient worldwide by the president of the IACLEA to the person who set an outstanding example for the promotion of safety and security and worked for the promotion of public safety on their college or university campus.

Wilcox has served as director of Public Safety at Holy Cross since 1993. Prior to this position he was director of Public Safety at the University of Hartford from 1988-1993; at Western New England College from 1982-1988; and with the Wilbraham Police Department as a patrol officer, detective, juvenile officer, court liaison officer and sergeant from 1971-1982.

A 20-year member of IACLEA, Wilcox has served as the Region 1 director, committee chair for the 1988 Annual Conference, secretary/treasurer, and, most recently, as vice president. He has been on the IACLEA board of directors for 12 years.

In addition, Wilcox has served as president and secretary/treasurer of the Massachusetts Association of College and University Public Safety Directors and as chapter chairman of the Western Massachusetts Chapter of the American Society of Industrial Security. He is a Certified Protection Professional, member of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association and a graduate of the Command Training School at Babson College. Wilcox is a resident of Wilbraham.

Founded in 1958, IACLEA is composed of approximately 1,600 members representing over 1,000 colleges and universities in 16 countries.
