Holy Cross to Dedicate New Campus Building

WORCESTER, Mass. – On Friday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m., the Holy Cross community will celebrate the dedication of Carol and Park B. Smith Hall and the Rehm Library. The $19 million building occupies the geographic center of campus, covering 56,000 square feet. Following the ceremony there will be tours of the building and a reception in Smith Hall Courtyard. All are welcome.

Based on a $10 million gift from Park B. Smith, a 1954 graduate of Holy Cross, and his wife, Carol, Smith Hall houses the new Center for Religion, Ethics and Culture, as well as the philosophy and religious studies departments, the Center for Interdisciplinary and Special Studies, information technology services, and academic student services such as the registrar's office. The Smiths' gift is the largest in the history of Holy Cross.

Made possible by a $2 million gift from Jack D. Rehm, also a 1954 graduate of Holy Cross, and his wife, Cynthia, the two-story Rehm Library occupies the primary space in Smith Hall. It provides space for hospitality, Center-sponsored lectures and events, quiet space for reading and reflection, and enhanced library resources on religion and spirituality.
