Professor Sarah Deutsch to Lecture at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Professor Sarah Deutsch will speak at Holy Cross on Friday, Sept. 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Rooms 408-409 of the Hogan Campus Center. Her lecture, titled "Boston 1890s-1930s: The Women Politicians," is free and open to the public.

Deutsch is a Rhodes Scholar and former professor at Clark University in Worcester. Currently, she is professor of history at the University of Arizona. Her lecture will highlight her research on Boston, the evolving political structure of the city, and the way in which both elite women and working-class women's groups helped to shape the modern city. She is author of "Women and the City: Gender, Space and Power in Boston, 1870-1940" (New York: Oxford University Press, 2000).
