Student Programs Presents ... acoustic guitarist Bari Koral

Acoustic guitarist Bari Koral will give a concert at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, in Crossroads, located in the basement of the Hogan Campus Center. Sponsored by Student Programs for Leadership Development, the concert is free and open to the public.

Koral began performing at age 13 in the off-Broadway theatres of New York City. After attending Syracuse University, Koral worked in the media and music industries, where she learned the retail, marketing and promotion side of the business.

Soon after, she released her self-titled CD and began playing clubs in New York City, where she met the musicians who form her current band. They released the CD, "Joy," in 1999, and continue to perform in New York and at colleges and universities around the country.

Described as a soulful combination of smart pop hooks and sassy lyrics, the Bari Koral Band was voted one of the best acts of the year by Newsday and was picked among the most likely to succeed by the Village Voice. Koral has appeared on the NBC hit show "Providence" and Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Network. The band has performed with and opened for many acts including Richard Thompson, Freedy Johnson, the Doobie Brothers and Lenny Kravitz.
