MTV's "The Real World" Cast Members Julie and Dan to Speak at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Two personalities from MTV's "The Real World," Julie and Dan, will speak at Holy Cross on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Hogan Campus Center. The speakers will discuss issues of sexuality, acceptance and spirituality. The lecture is open to the public; admission is $1 without a Holy Cross ID.

A Mormon from the New Orleans cast, Julie had to confront the discrepancies between her church's teachings about homosexuality and her friendship with one of her gay housemates. Since the airing of the show, Julie has been suspended from Brigham Young University. She is currently speaking at colleges across the country, as well as co-hosting a cable show about computers and new media and appearing on television shows such as "Larry King Live," "The View" and "Politically Incorrect." She lives in Delafield, Wis., and Huntington Beach, Calif.

A gay man from the Miami cast, Dan is a graduate of Rutgers University. A model and actor, Dan has also done field research with the Los Angeles Department of Epidemiology, charting new HIV infection in Southern California. He was director of the AIDS/HIV program at the Kansas City Gay and Lesbian Center. Dan currently lives in Los Angeles where he works with The Princeton Review helping disadvantaged youths prepare for the SAT.
