WORCESTER, Mass. – Professor J. Michael Turner will give a lecture on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m. in Suite C of the Hogan Campus Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Turner will speak on his work with Afro-Latin cultures and his preparation for the UN World Conference on Racism, held last September in Durban, South Africa. He will also discuss U.S. foreign policy toward Latin-American and African nations.
Turner is currently associate professor of Latin-American and African history at Hunter College-City University of New York, and has been the project manager for USAID/Mozambique, a Democratic Initiatives Project. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations concentrating on US-Brazil relations, he has recently been a delegate to the preparatory meeting for the UN Conference.
