Expert on Cloning at Holy Cross is Jesuit and Medical Doctor

WORCESTER, Mass. – Located in the same city as Advanced Cell Technologies, Rev. William Stempsey, S.J., is a Jesuit, medical doctor and assistant professor of philosophy at Holy Cross. He is an expert on the recent controversy surrounding cloning and stem cell research.

Stempsey researches the philosophy of medicine and medical ethics. He has expertise in physician-assisted suicide, euthanasia, cloning, and the concepts of health and disease, death and dying, organ transplantation and medical education. He is the author of Disease and Diagnosis: Value-Dependent Realism (Kluwer Academic Publishers, 2000).

He earned his Ph.D. from Georgetown University and his M.D. from the State University of New York, Buffalo.
