Holy Cross Volleyball Tournament to Benefit Leary Firefighters Foundation

WORCESTER, Mass. – On Saturday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. the College of the Holy Cross will hold a volleyball tournament to benefit the Leary Firefighters Foundation. The tournament will take place in the College's fieldhouse.

Teams of 5 students will be matched with a Worcester Police officer and/or firefighter and compete in a single elimination tournament. The winning team will receive tickets to a celebrity hockey game at the Centrum and the chance to meet Denis Leary.

There is a $25 registration fee per team. All proceeds will go to the Leary Firefighter Foundation, which was established by actor Denis Leary after the Worcester warehouse fire in December, 1999. Leary's cousin, Jeremiah Lucey, was one of the six firefighters lost in the blaze. The foundation was created to give Worcester and Central Massachusetts fire departments adequate resources to obtain equipment, technology and training.
