5th Annual Deaf Services and Technology Expo to be Held at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – The 5th Annual Deaf Services and Technology Expo will be held on Monday, October 21 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the Hogan Campus Center at the College of the Holy Cross. This event is sponsored by the Deaf Studies department at Holy Cross and the Massachusetts State Association of the Deaf and the Northeast Technical Assistance Center. This event is free and open to the public.

The "Deaf Expo" is a consumer trade show that provides an opportunity for open exchange of information, education, marketing and networking for Deaf and Hard of Hearing members of the community, professionals, researchers, interpreters, teachers, parents and students. This event will feature vendors of new and emerging technologies, assistive devices and educational materials, providers of community services, educational programs, recreational organizations and businesses. This event is also supported by MassRELAY.

The following presentations will take place throughout the day:

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Progress Report from the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) presented by MRC's Rehabilitation Counselors for the Deaf

12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Sound and Fury (movie) Academy Award nominated documentary about one family's struggle over whether or not to offer two deaf children cochlear implants.

2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Massachusetts Relay Service presented by MassRelay Outreach Specialists
