Guitarist John Rush to perform

Huntsville, Ala., native John Rush has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old. From there, he went to Athens, Georgia where he majored in classical guitar at the University of Georgia.

Rush averages more than 200 shows a year, making a name for himself on college campuses and in clubs. His set list is comprised of more than 500 songs from over 150 artists, including Jimmy Buffet, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Tracy Chapman, Jimi Hendrix, Sheryl Crow, James Taylor and U2. The Boston Globe has called Rush "the human jukebox" for his ability to play so many of the audiences requests. Although he plays a lot of covers, Rush also performs his own music.

With a writing style similar to those of Mark Knopfler, Paul Simon, Tom Petty and Neil Young, Rush's music can be classified as progressive folk/rock. His recently released debut CD, They Don't Know My Name, includes two tracks that also appear on the sound track to the film Autumn and Everything After.
