National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week 2002

Monday, November 18 - Friday, November 22

Join your fellow Holy Cross students as they raise awareness to the problems of hunger and homelessness during the College's annual week of events, sponsored by the Student Coalition on and Hunger and Homelessness (SCOHAH), an organization run through the Chaplains' Office.

Monday, November 18: Panel Discussion - "What Is Our Civic Responsibility to the Hungry and the Homeless?" Come hear Professor Predrag Cicovacki, Professor Mary Hobgood and Crista from Jeremiah's Inn (food pantry) speak about what our obligations are to those that are less fortunate. 4 p.m. in Hogan 406

Tuesday, November 19: Homeless Solidarity Sleepout - 10 p.m. on Hogan Lawn. There will be a showing of the movie "BIG ONES" directed by Michael Moore. Come join us and bring your sleeping bag!

Wednesday, November 20: Hunger Banquet - 5:30 p.m. in Kimball Dining Hall. Come and see a representation of how unequal the world's food distribution is and how fortunate we are.

Other events include:

* Letter Writing Campaign (Hogan 1) * Opportunity to donate your meals in order to raise money for Oxfam American, an organization dedicated to working for the hungry. * Toiletry Drive (Check for boxes in your dorm and in Hogan) to donate soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, feminine products, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair products, cotton balls, Q-tips, shaving cream, etc.
