The Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. Presents

"The Role of Higher Education in Serving the Worcester Community; College Students in Civic Engagement"

On Monday, November 25 from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., The Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. will present a symposium titled "The Role of Higher Education in Serving the Worcester Community; College Students in Civic Engagement" in the Hogan Campus Center at Holy Cross. The symposium will examine ways in which college students serve as valuable "resources" to Worcester area organizations.

At 9:15 a.m., Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., Holy Cross president, will greet forum participants and offer brief remarks on Holy Cross' community involvement. His speech will be followed by the Elizabeth Hollander's keynote address at 9:45 a.m. Hollander currently serves as the executive director of National Campus Compact.

At 10:45 a.m., there will be a panel presentation during which representatives from the City of Worcester, Worcester Public Schools, area social service agencies, faith-based communities and college students will discuss the impact of student engagement. Panelists will also share plans for future engagements of college students within the Worcester community. Holy Cross student and Harry S Truman Scholar Jonathan Favreau '03 will be among the panelists.
