Holy Cross to Hold Presentation on AIDS in Africa

WORCESTER, Mass. – Ellen McCurley '82, of the Pendulum Project, will present "AIDS in Africa and its Effect on Children: What Can We Do?" on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the Rehm Library at the College of the Holy Cross. This event is free and open to the public.

McCurley is a media expert who works with The Pendulum Project, an organization which links American humanitarian organizations with community projects in Africa that care for orphans and other vulnerable children in regions severely affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Her presentation will include the showing of a brief documentary film that she recently created for the Pendulum Project, Malawi - A Call To Action, about the AIDS epidemic in Malawi and sub-Saharan Africa. She will talk about what led to her involvement with the project, how AIDS has affected children in Africa, and offer ways in which all of us can respond to the problem.

She co-founded the Donovan Group, an Inc. 500 advertising agency headquartered in the Boston area, where she was head of new business development and client services for a diverse client base comprised of Fortune 500 and high technology companies. She has served as a board member, advisor and fundraising volunteer for several U.S. humanitarian, nonprofit organizations devoted to women and children and the AIDS effort.
