Expert on Catastrophic Fires at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Edward O'Donnell, associate professor of history at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., is an expert on the history of catastrophic fires. He is available to comment on the recent tragic nightclub fire in West Warwick, R.I. and can offer insight into how a city and its people recover from catastrophic events.

O'Donnell is the author of the forthcoming Ship Ablaze: The Tragedy of the Steamboat General Slocum (Doubleday/Broadway Books), a book detailing the General Slocum fire of 1904 in which over 1,000 lives were lost.
