Holy Cross Grads Establish Networking Group for Students, Alums Interested in Emerging Technologies

Alumni group coordinated through Ciocca Office of Entrepreneurial Studies

The Holy Cross Emerging Technologies Group, recently formed by three alumni to help the College’s students and faculty unite with graduates who work in tech-related fields, drew 160 students and alumni at the first formal meeting in Boston in November. Of the eight students who attended, two received job offers as a result of the meeting.

The three founders of the group, Larry Naughton ’93, Craig Cerretani ’79, and Patrick Sansonetti ’93, spoke recently to a Telegram & Gazette reporter about why they wanted to start the group and the enthusiasm they have already received.

The group will work in partnership with the Ciocca Office of Entrepreneurial Studies, which offers students unique access to today’s multifaceted business world with programs that complement the College’s rigorous liberal arts curriculum and Jesuit tradition.

David Chu, direct of COES, told the Telegram & Gazette that there are many advantages to a Holy Cross networking group with this focus.

“Students will benefit by getting a mentor,” he said. “Or, if students are looking for jobs, startups are always looking for people to hire. Liberal arts students are wide-open and they’re smart, so they can learn on the fly.”
