Singer/Songwriter Matthew West

On tour to promote his debut album, Sellout,singer/songwriter Matthew West will perform in Crossroads Pub on Saturday, March 22 at 10 p.m.

The son of an Illinois preacher, West's music combines the sounds of acoustic guitar and "rich gutsy vocals."

West began a career as a songwriter for Word Music Publishing only a month after moving to Nashville, Tenn. A recent college graduate, West was excited at the opportunity to have others record his songs, but never gave up performing his original works. In August of 2002, he was offered his own record deal with Universal South Records and started work on Sellout.

West was named a ballot finalist for the "Emerging Artist Award" during the 2001 NACA Campus Entertainment Awards. He continues to perform on college campuses throughout the United States, and in 2001, was the most booked coffeehouse singer in the college market.
