Zen Meditation Program at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Rev. Robert Kennedy, S.J., will lead a meditation in the Zen tradition on Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon in the Rehm Library at the College of the Holy Cross. The ecumenical meditation program, which is free and open to the public, will combine silent meditation, meditation instruction, and a question and answer period.

Fr. Kennedy is the chair of the theology department at St. Peter's College in New Jersey, where he teaches theology and Japanese language. He is also a practicing psychotherapist.

After studying Zen in Japan with the Japanese master Yamada Roshi, Fr. Kennedy moved to Los Angeles, Calif. where he was made a Zen teacher in 1991. In 1997, he was given the title of Roshi or Master.

Fr. Kennedy earned doctorates in theology from the University of Ottawa and from St. Paul University in Ottawa, a master's in theology from Sophia University in Tokyo and a doctor of ministry in psychology and clinical studies from Andover-Newton in Boston, Mass.

Fr. Kennedy will be available to sign copies of his books, Zen Gifts to Christians and Zen Spirit, Christian Spirit, which are currently available in the Holy Cross Bookstore.
