Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Art Gallery Presents "Call and Response"

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Art Gallery at the College of the Holy Cross presents Call and Response, from Monday, Sept. 15 through Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003.

Call and Response includes four extraordinary bodies of work that question the notion of the isolated artist and showcases arenas of shared artistic production. This exhibition presents the dynamic relationship inherent in shared ideas, images and dreams, and includes artists of international stature as well as artists just emerging on the art scene.

* A gallery talk with exhibiting artists Chelynn Tetreault and Jill Slosburg-Ackerman titled "The Echoes of Artistic Activity" will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 4:00 p.m. The dialogue will be moderated by guest curator Barbara O'Brien, editor in chief of Art New England Magazine, and will be followed by an opening reception from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. * A closing day gallery talk with exhibiting artist June Ahrens titled "The Impact of Family and Community," will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. The dialogue will be moderated by guest curator Barbara O'Brien.

An exhibition catalogue, written by Barbara O'Brien with other contributors, will be published in conjunction with the show. Formerly, Barbara O'Brien was the director of the Gallery and Visiting Artist Program at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Mass. Over the past 20 years, she has curated numerous exhibitions throughout New England.

The hours for the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Art Gallery are Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.. Located in O'Kane Hall, 1st Floor, College of the Holy Cross, 1 College Street, Worcester, Mass., 01610. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
