Celebrating the 175th Anniversary of the Blackstone Canal

On the 175th anniversary of the Blackstone Canal, cities and towns of the Blackstone Valley will celebrate the arrival of the first canal boat, the Lady Carrington, to the Port of Worcester by "raising a ruckus." Churches, mills and other organizations along the canal will all ring their bells at the same time.

Holy Cross students will join in this event by ringing a bell for 10 minutes beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7 in the Stein Courtyard.

Holy Cross’ participation in this event was organized by Professor Jill Dupree of the economics department, who is a member of the Blackstone Canal Taskforce.
