The Holy Cross Alternate College Theatre Presents: Kiss Me, Kate

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross Alternate College Theatre (ACT) will present Kiss Me, Kate, from Thursday, Feb. 5 through Sunday, Feb. 8, in Fenwick Theatre (O'Kane Hall). Performances are nightly at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $7 for the Holy Cross community, and $10 for the general public. They may be reserved by calling the ACT box office at (508) 793-3536.

Combine Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew with Cole Porter's music and lyrics to get Kiss Me, Kate, an instant success with every cast and audience. This is a play-within-a-play where each cast member's on-stage life is complicated by what is happening off stage.

Kiss Me, Kate tells the story of egotistical performer Fred Graham who is reunited with his ex-wife when the two are cast in the leading roles of Petruchio and Kate in The Taming of the Shrew. Although they fight continuously, it is obvious they are still in love.

Musical numbers include: "Why Can't You Behave," "So In Love," "Wunderbar," "Tom, Dick or Harry," "Were Thine That Special Face," "Too Darn Hot," "Brush Up Your Shakespeare," "I Hate Men," "Always True to You," and "Another Op'nin, Another Show."

Kiss Me, Kate is fun, melodious, and sophisticated.
