Monologues from the Mind, Through the Hands of Women Who Are DeafBlind

The ASL/Deaf Studies program at Holy Cross will host a performance of A Woman’s Life: Monologues from the Minds, Through the Hands of Women Who Are DeafBlind, by the DeafBlind TheatreProject on Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in the Ballroom. Tickets are available at the door for a minimum cash donation of $5.

Directed by Jeannette Ocampo Welch, A Woman’s Life, chronicles life from youth to death through the hands of two local DeafBlind actresses, Elaine Ducharme and Ona Stewart. All shows are in American Sign Language with English voice interpretation.

Earlier in the day, the ASL/Deaf Studies program will hold an “Accommodations Fair.” The fair, which will take place from 1 – 5 p.m. in the Hogan Ballroom, will feature 15 booths staffed by professionals who provide classroom accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Services that will be represented include sign language interpretation, cued speech transliteration, oral interpretation, C-print captioning, and notetaking.

This event is cosponsored by the Massachusetts Commission for Deaf & Hard of Hearing, Massachusetts Site of the Northeast Technical Assistance Center (NETAC) and the Holy Cross Deaf Studies program.
