Holden Resident Named President of Holy Cross Alumni Group

WORCESTER, Mass. – Marcy McManus Vandale, of Holden, has been elected president of the 33,000-member General Alumni Association (GAA) of the College of the Holy Cross. She graduated from the College in 1987, and has been active in alumni organizations for more than 17 years.

She will serve a one-year term.

Vandale served the GAA as president-elect last year and as vice president for six terms. She has chaired the GAA's scholarship committee, senior reception, book prize and student alumni association committees. For the last four years, she has co-chaired the GAA communication committee which, among other things, is responsible for the feature articles on the GAA pages of Holy Cross Magazine. In addition, she has served as a class agent and on her class reunion committees.

She is also a past president, vice president, treasurer and secretary of the Holy Cross Club of Greater Worcester. Currently she sits on the club's board of directors.

After graduation, Vandale, a mathematics major, worked in the Massachusetts Legislature at the Statehouse in Boston, and then worked for 10 years as a lobbyist for the health care industry. She lives with her husband, Richard, and four children, twins Nicole and Zachary, Emily, and Erin. She is the daughter of William "Bud" McManus (Class of 1958), who served as president of the Holy Cross GAA in 1999-2000.
