Ashe, Critically-Acclaimed Soprano in Holy Cross Music Department, to Give Performance

Jen Ashe, soprano, and Alicia Didonato, flute, will perform on Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. in Brooks Concert Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Ashe, who is a faculty member at Holy Cross, will perform a piece by Shirish Korde, also of the Holy Cross music department. She will also perform works by Roussel, Scott, Seeger, McDonald, Berio, Schoenberg, Truniger and Corigliano.

The Boston Phoenix has described Ashe’s voice as "the kind of vocal velvet you don’t often hear in contemporary music."

A strong advocate for new music, Ashe has participated in several premieres and recordings for composers active in the Boston area and beyond. She has studied with Mark St. Laurent and has coached with Lucy Shelton. She is currently pursuing her doctor of musical arts at New England Conservatory in Voice Performance and earned her master’s in vocal pedagogy at NEC. She received her bachelor’s of music from the Hartt School of Music in voice performance and music education.
