Holy Cross Sponsoring Fifth Annual Relay for Disaster Relief

Proceeds to Go to College’s Hurricane Relief Effort

Holy Cross will hold its fifth annual Relay for Disaster Relief on Oct. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hart Track. Proceeds from the relay will be donated to "Stand By You," Holy Cross’ coordinated show of financial, physical, and spiritual support for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

In previous years, the proceeds from the relay were donated to the Sept. 11 relief effort. Last year, more than 350 students, faculty and staff took part in the event. This year, the goal is to bring together more than 500 members of the Holy Cross community. The relay is also open to members of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium.

The challenge for students, faculty and staff is to organize teams. Each team is to complete 50 laps around the track in relay fashion. You can run or walk and team members can vary distances and speeds depending on desire and ability.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to gather teams among campus organizations, departments, clubs, family and teams. The entrance fee for each team is $200.

Registration packets are available at an informational table in the Hogan Campus Center from Sept. 26 – Oct. 3 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pre-registration ensures that T-shirts will be set aside for your team.

For more information about the relay, please contact DeJongh Wells or Kelly McGill.
