Students, Faculty, and Staff to Participate in the 12th Annual Holy Cross Cares Day

WORCESTER, Mass. – More than 300 students, faculty, and staff at the College of the Holy Cross have volunteered for the 12th annual Holy Cross Cares Day. The event will take place Saturday, March 28 starting at 9 a.m. Volunteers will be dispersed throughout Worcester at sites including Girls, Inc.; Rape Crisis Center; Seven Hills Foundation; Greater Worcester Land Trust; and Mass. Audobon Society.

To show their appreciation for the Worcester community, volunteers will spend the day participating in service-oriented activities, including painting, raking, and picking up trash. This year, several large groups will participate, including the class of 2009, the football team, the women’s soccer team, and men’s basketball. Additionally, several groups from the spring break immersion program have reconnected for this service experience.

Registration and breakfast is from 7:30 – 9 a.m. in the Hogan Ballroom. A keynote presentation is planned, followed by a blessing given by Rev. Michael McFarland, S.J., president of the College. Volunteers will work at the various sites until 1 p.m. Participants will return to the College for lunch.
