Holy Cross President Receives Honorary Degree from Layfayette College

Lafayette College in Pennsylvania awarded an honorary doctorate to Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., president of the College of the Holy Cross, at their 176th Commencement on Saturday, May 21.

Fr. McFarland received the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters during the ceremony, at which the following individuals were also recognized: Gwendolyn L. Ifill, managing editor and moderator for Washington Week and senior correspondent for The NewsHour at PBS, who gave the commencement address; Wilbur W. Oaks, esteemed physician and retired professor of medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine; and Salvatore J. Panto Jr., mayor of the City of Easton.
