"Neighbors"

Telegram & Gazette

In an article in the Telegram & Gazette, six Holy Cross students were recognized for their work in leading a Middle School Success Institute for six weeks this past summer. The Massachusetts Commonwealth Corps and the College funded the program, which included college prep, summer reading instruction and community-outreach projects with nonprofits such as the Worcester Tree Initiative. Twenty-two middle school students from Worcester’s Sullivan Middle School and Abby Kelley Foster Charter School participated.

After the program finished, the Holy Cross students hosted their new middle school friends for a banquet on campus where Mayor Joseph C. O’Brien and School Superintendent Melinda Boone presented the students with keys to the city and their middle school counterparts with plaques.
