The Holy Cross community marked the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 with an interfaith vigil for the seven alumni and for all who died and suffered that tragic day. The alumni lost on 9/11 are Edward A. Brennan III ’86, Thomas D. Burke ’85, Neilie A. Heffernan Casey ’90, John G. Farrell ’91, Todd A. Isaac ’94, Beth A. Quigley ’97, John J. Ryan ’78.

The Telegram & Gazette was on hand as Rev. Paul Harman, S.J., vice president for mission, shared his memories of that day and added hopeful reflections with a group of students gathered at the Memorial Plaza. Fr.  Harman spoke of the cloudless azure sky that stretched over the East Coast on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. “Then the unimaginable happened, unlike citizens of other continents, we had never suffered an enemy attack,” Fr. Harman told the crowd.
