"Seventeen Recent Holy Cross Grads Join Teach For America"

The College of the Holy Cross ranks fifth this year among small colleges and universities contributing the greatest number of graduates to Teach For America with 17 recent Holy Cross alumni joining the program.

The Telegram & Gazette recently spoke with Michelle Marieni ’11 who is teaching in Temple Hills, Md. She told the reporter she had planned to pursue a career in research, but after serving as a volunteer tutor at Holy Cross, she made the decision to try teaching. “My biggest challenge is trying to get to know each student as an individual,” she said, adding that she teaches 120 students.

Throughout Teach For America’s 20-year history, more than 130 Holy Cross alumni have taught as corps members.
