Victor Matheson, associate professor of economics at the College of the Holy Cross, was featured on “At Issue with Ben Morens” on Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR). The duo discussed the economic impact of NBA lockout and the league’s possible lost season in addition to how it consequently affects the city of Milwaukee.
“Well, there’s no question that people who are directly involved with providing goods and services for NBA games are without question hurting as a part of the strike,” explained Matheson. “This is business that they count on and business that is not happening this year. However, if you look at the broader economy, by almost any measure, there is no economic impact whatsoever from big sporting teams going on strike like this.”
