Holy Cross Faculty Authors to Read From New Books of Fiction
Event to kick-off 2012 Working Writers Series
Leah Hager Cohen, critically acclaimed nonfiction writer and novelist and the College of the Holy Cross Jenks Chair of Contemporary American Letters; and Stephanie Reents, award-winning writer and assistant professor of English at the College; will read from their new books of fiction as part of the Working Writers Series on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Levis Browsing Room, Dinand Library at the College. The event, sponsored by the College’s Creative Writing Program and the Jenks Chair of Contemporary American Letters, is free and open to the public.
Cohen has written four novels, most recently The Grief of Others—which just came out last fall—and House Lights (W. W. Norton & Company, 2007); and four non-fiction books, including Train Train Go Sorry (Houghton Mifflin, 1994) and Glass, Paper, Beans (Doubleday, 1997). In addition to serving as the Jenks Chair in of Contemporary American Letters at Holy Cross, she teaches in the low-residency M.F.A. program at Lesley University and regularly contributes to the New York Times Book Review.
Reents’ fiction has been included in the O. Henry Prize Stories, noted in Best American Short Stories, and has appeared in numerous journals. She has been a Bread Loaf Conference Scholar, a Wallace Stegner Fellow, and a Rhodes Scholar. Her collection of short stories, The Kissing List, will be published by Hogarth later this spring. She teaches creative writing at Holy Cross.
The Working Writers Series was formerly known as the Visiting Writers Series.
