Canadian Organist John Grew to Perform as Part of Holy Cross Chapel Artists Series

John Grew

Canadian organist John Grew will perform as part of the Chapel Artist Series on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph Memorial Chapel at the College of the Holy Cross. The program will include selections from Dieterich Buxtehude, Thomas Tomkins, William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons, Johann Pachelbel, Bernardo Pasquini, and Johann Sebastian Bach. The performance is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible.

Grew is the university organist at McGill University in Quebec, Canada, where he established the university’s early music program, the largest of its kind in Canada. He is also the chair of the organ and church music area of the Schulich School of Music and the founding artistic director of the biannual McGill Summer Organ Academy.

Grew has performed concerts extensively in North America and Europe as both an organist and harpsichordist in addition to appearing with many chamber orchestras including  Tafelmusik (Toronto), the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa), and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
