Amy Murphy, director of career planning at the College of the Holy Cross, explains to the Telegram & Gazette why students should treat an internship like a job interview.
Employers are looking to fill those spots with graduates who have the most — and best — experience in the workplace. Internships, which used to be “value-added” to a résumé, are now an expectation, according to Murphy.
“These industries aren’t just doing internships out of the goodness of their heart,” Murphy said. “It’s a 10-week job interview to see exactly what they’re going to get from a future employee.”
