Blog: Montoya ’14 Looks Forward to Improving Spanish, Traveling Europe During Semester in Spain

NAME Melissa Montoya '14

HOMETOWN Pawtucket, R.I.

AREAS OF STUDY Economics and accounting major with a Women's and Gender Studies concentration

WHERE SHE’S STUDYING University of A Coruña in Galicia, Spain

WHY SHE CHOSE SPAIN "In the accounting curriculum, most classes — and there are quite a few classes in the curriculum — have to be taken in the United States due to the differences in global regulations. Consequently, I chose to study abroad in Spain primarily because I could study away for just one semester (as opposed to an entire year). After choosing this site, I realized that I was in a win-win situation because I would also have the chance to improve my Spanish-speaking skills."

WHAT SHE’S MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO "I am most looking forward to improving my Spanish and traveling around Europe. I have always dreamed of going to the quintessential tourist areas in Europe, and now I will have the opportunity."

WHY SHE’S BLOGGING "I want to have something concrete that will serve as a reminder of my time abroad. I know this is going to be an amazing opportunity, and I do not want to forget one moment." Read the blog »
