According to the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS), the College of the Holy Cross’ Science Café is one of the best college dining spots in the country. NACUFS recently honored the Science Café with a gold and grand prize in the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards contest.

Linda Nardella, director of dining services at the College, tells the Telegram & Gazette that the Loyal E. Horton Dining Award is considered the ultimate professional tribute in college and university arts.

While 150 different college eateries were considered for this honor, the Science Café won because of its exceptional menu, design, and its commitment to nutrition and wellness. The Café opened in 2010 and continues to thrive, serving 550 customers per day, including students, staff, and the public.

According to the article, foodie favorites include fresh squeezed orange juice, the Bialy breakfast sandwich, signature soups and hot naan (Indian bread) Panini sandwiches. The barbecue chicken and cheddar cheese is a popular choice, said Nardella.
