'Wellness program at HC gets a boost'

In an article in the Telegram & Gazette, the College of the Holy Cross was praised for its wellness programming. The College recently launched a Worksite Wellness Center, funded by Fallon Community Health Plan. It is a one-stop shop dedicated to the health needs of Holy Cross employees (no matter what insurance they carry). Located in Loyola Hall, it is staffed by wellness specialist Jennifer Coode.

“Over the past five years, the wellness program has gotten better and better, and with the addition of the Fallon site, it has peaked,” said Sue Hunt, organizational development specialist in the human resources department at the College. “Having happy and healthy employees makes the environment so much better,” she continued.

Currently, nearly 60 employees enjoy the offerings of the Worksite Wellness Center, including Zumba, blood-pressure screenings, stress-reduction courses, and the walking-and-running club. A participant in the latter, Melissa Cutroni, office coordinator of human resources on the hill, praised the effectiveness of the College’s wellness programming. In fact, she referred to the Center’s trainer as someone “who will push you when you feel like giving up.”
