Coach Tim Rogers ’91 and his team from Westport, Conn. are representing New England against Eastlake Little League from Chula Vista, Calif. in the United States semifinals of the Little League World Series. Rogers, who was a pitcher and an infielder for the Crusaders, reflected on his own experience as a Little League player.

“The Little League experience back then, truthfully, was a lot more recreational,” said Rogers. “It wasn’t as big as it is today. We might have won one or two games in districts, but we never really had a good enough team to compete.”

The undefeated Westport Little League team is only two games away from the championship. The semifinal game will be broadcast on ESPN tonight, August 21, at 8 p.m.
