Men's Hockey to Host RIT in AHA First Round Series

The Holy Cross men's hockey team (12-19-3 overall, 11-13-3 Atlantic Hockey), which is the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament, will return to action on March 7-9 for a best two-out-of-three first round series versus the No. 9 seed Rochester Institute of Technology (11-18-5, 10-14-3 Atlantic Hockey) at the Hart Center in Worcester, Mass.

The Crusaders won this year's regular season series at RIT on Jan. 31-Feb. 1, as the first game ended in a 3-3 tie and the Crusaders won the second game, 4-2. The Crusaders are 3-2-0 overall their last five games as they went 1-1-0 versus Army last week, while the Tigers are also 3-2-0 and have won three straight games, with a win over Air Force and two victories versus Canisius.

RIT is tied for eighth in Atlantic Hockey scoring 2.59 goals per game, while Holy Cross is tied for 10th with 2.41 goals per game. The Crusaders are fourth in the league in defense allowing 2.91 goals per game, while the Tigers are ninth with 3.35. RIT has the second best power play in the AHA with a .221 percentage, while Holy Cross is ninth with a .133 percentage. The Tigers also have the second best penalty kill with a .839 percentage, while the Crusaders are fifth with a .825.
