Photo Gallery: Holy Cross Campus Springs to Life With Lush Green Lawns, Beautiful Flowers

“Like most people, when I think of the spring I think of new life and new beginnings,” says Darien Henry ’14. And like most people, Henry was especially looking forward to birds chirping this year following a particularly harsh winter that didn’t loosen its grip until April (March was one of the coldest on record). When it finally arrived, “people were excited to experience the campus full of lush grass and beautiful flowers.”

It was also an opportunity for him to snap photos of a campus that had once more been transformed by a change in seasons. A photography intern in the College Marketing and Communications office this past academic year, Henry also took photos of Holy Cross during the fall and winter, and says the collection of images are best experienced as part of a series.

“I wish for these photos to provide a glimpse at one of the greatest benefits of being a student, faculty member, or administrator on campus, which is being able to witness and experience the amazing and changing scenery throughout the year,” he says. “It is truly something I will miss now that my time on The Hill has come to a close.”

Henry, who majored in sociology and minored in visual arts, took the photos during his last week on campus. He is currently living in his hometown of New York City looking for employment in the fields of media and photography.
