Bravehearts Return to Fitton Field for Opening Day

The Worcester Bravehearts return to Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on Friday, June 5 at 7:05 p.m. for their home opener against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. The Bravehearts played against the Dirt Dawgs on June 4 with the Bravehearts taking home the win in the ninth inning with 3-2 victory at Doyle Field in Leominster.

This is the second year of the partnership between Holy Cross, the city of Worcester, the Futures League, and local business owner John W.S. Creedon Jr. in their collective efforts to keep the tradition of baseball alive within the Worcester community. In their inaugural year the Bravehearts won the FCBL Championships series dethroning the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks.

The Bravehearts, members of the 10-team Futures Collegiate Baseball League include two Holy Cross varsity baseball members, pitcher Austin Cave ’18 and outfielder Bobby Indeglia ’16.

Opening weekend at the park will have many surprises for fans including the first of seven post-game fireworks shows on Friday, June 5. On Saturday, June 6 the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks come to town for a rematch of the 2014 FCBL Championship series and fans can expect to view skydivers delivering the team’s 2014 championship rings to the field. The first 250 fans in the park will receive a replica championship ring.
