Watch Time-Lapse of New Science Building Now; On Jan. 23 Tune in to Watch Live Dedication and Blessing

As the 669 students enrolled in the 26 classes in the new Park B. and Linda Smith Laboratories learn in an atmosphere surrounded by cutting-edge technology and conduct experiments using sophisticated scientific equipment, it’s time to reflect on the 21 months that the building was in construction.

A time-lapse video shows the entire construction project whiz by in a mere two minutes. Watch as bulldozers lay the foundation and erect the steel structures and cranes swing from one end of the four-story building to the other until construction is completed.

A webcam positioned on Beaven Hall, adjacent to Smith Laboratories, captured shots of the building during the two-year construction period.

To inaugurate the new building, a dedication and blessing will take place on Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. Live streaming video of the event will be available by clicking here.

Speakers will include Kevin Condron ’67, chair of the Board of Trustees, and Timothy Austin, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College.
